Noise Reduction and Vibration Dampening Clamps for Pipes, Tubes, and Hoses

STAUFF NRC and NRC-H Clamps for Noise Reduction in Hydraulic Systems

STAUFF NRC and NRC-H pipe, tube, and hose clamps are designed to reduce noise and vibration in Hydraulic Systems and other pipework. Based on the well known STAUFF Standard Series Clamp according to DIN 3015 (part 1) using Polypropylene, these clamps have specially designed elastomer inserts that have little contact with the pipe/tube or hose itself and the clamp body making the absorption of vibrations and noise more efficient than previous solutions. STAUFF NRC Clamps: Noise Reduction Pipe and Tube Clamps

STAUFF Noise Reduction Clamps, or NRC Clamps, are designed for the reduction of noise and vibration during installation of tubes and pipes in hydraulic systems. Offered in common outer diameters between ¼ inch to 1 ½ inches, the clamp design is based on the STAUFF Standard Series Clamp according to DIN 3015 (part 1), made from Polypropylene. NRC Clamps are specially shaped with a two-part elastomer insert, which absorbs vibration in the pipe resulting in a reduction of noise. Due to limited contact with the pipe and tube itself, this clamp is a more effective solution for noise reduction than previous solutions. The tongue-groove contour design of the insert and body, which differs from the DIN 3015 design, allows the system to be used for the widest range of outer pipe and tube diameter per clamp size, which contributes to flexibility, versatility, and optimization of the installation space. They are compatible with standard STAUFF steel and stainless steel mounting hardware, and if necessary, they can be retrofitted to replace standard STAUFF clamps. All the materials used by STAUFF are distinguished by their outstanding durability especially against seawater, mineral oil and other oils, and a wide temperature range used.

In addition to the standard NRC clamps, STAUFF also offers a version specifically for marine and offshore applications, which is made of flame-resistant materials according to international standards and directives and meets the demanding requirements with regards to preventive fire protection.

Key Features of the STAUFF NRC Clamp

  • They are designed for reducing noise and vibration during tube and pipe installation, cutting down on the system's overall noise pollution.
  • Suitable for the most common outside diameters from ¼ to 1 ½ inch.
  • A two-part elastomer insert mechanically absorbs vibration from the pipe and tube, resulting in a reduction of noise.
  • The elastomer insert has little contact with the pipe/tube and the clamp body making the absorption of vibration more effective and efficient compared to previous methods.
  • Can be utilized for noise reduction capabilities or for the gentle installation of hoses and cables, ensuring the safety and care of all systems.
STAUFF NRC-H Clamp: Noise Reduction Hose Clamp

Due to the design of the NRC Clamp conducting gentle support and care to tubes and pipes to ensure noise reduction, STAUFF R&D team developed the NRC-H Clamp for hydraulic hoses. The elastomer insert has been adapted in its contour and elasticity to better suit the needs and requirements of hydraulic hoses. This clamp offers "freedom of movement" in the radial direction, allowing for the outer diameter to change due to the pressure pulsation. However, the elastomer insert holds the hose securely in its position without excessive wear and tear, and ensuring the reduction of noise polluting the environment. Manufacturers stated that a key issue faced is melting at support points due to the constant micro-vibrations at the hose clamp connection causing an accelerated deterioration of the hose itself. When an NRC-H Clamp is installed vibrations and noise are more thoroughly absorbed decreasing the constant friction allowing for less wear on the hose, further extending its lifespan.

Key Features of the STAUFF NRC-H Clamp

  • The NRC-H elastomer insert protrudes slightly beyond the clamp body on both sides, offering the hose a significantly larger contact surface.
  • With a large outlet radii and longitudinal ribs within the elastomer insert, there is an allowance of changes in the hose's diameter, while ensuring there is a gentle yet stable securance.
  • The elastomer insert has little contact with the hose and the clamp body making the absorption of vibration more effective and efficient compared to previous methods.
  • These clamps are compatible with conventional steel and stainless steel mounting hardware and can be easily replaced or retrofitted as needed.

Common Applications for STAUFF NRC and NRC-H Clamps

  • Mobile and stationary machines in harbor and loading areas, as well as municipal and commercial vehicles.
    • Reducing overall noise emissions, especially in urban areas.
    • Improving occupational health and safety.
  • Civil shipping such as on cruise ships, yachts, and sport boats.
    • Reduction of underwater noise to help protect the maritime environment.
    • Creating a comfortable environment where communication is easily facilitated on board, especially in the engine and control rooms.
